The most expensive free agents often only have a few places they can fit within the salary cap rules.
But when you get to the realm of guys like Kelly Oubre, whose contract is up with the Philadelphia 76ers, there can often be a lot of suitors. It's easier to negotiate a deal that can work for more teams.
That's part of why Oubre could have eight logical landing spots, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks in a new article on Friday.
Those eight teams Marks sees Oubre potentially ending up with:
- Philadelphia 76ers
- Brooklyn Nets
- Chicago Bulls
- Detroit Pistons
- Los Angeles Lakers
- Memphis Grizzlies
- Milwaukee Bucks
- Utah Jazz
Oubre isn't a star, but he continues to prove he's a useful player, particularly at the offensive end of the floor.
"Oubre signed a one-year, $2.9 million contract with Philadelphia in 2023 and then a two-year, $12 million deal the following year," Marks writes. "In those three seasons, Oubre started 80% of the games he played, averaging at least 14 points in each season. After shooting 29.3% on 3-pointers in 2024-25, Oubre shot 36% from deep this season."

Marks goes on to predict that Oubre's deal will be three years for $40.5 million in total value.
"A $13 million average salary is still below starter level, but Oubre would double his earnings from last season," Marks writes. "The final season of the deal has a player option."
Given the amount of teams that could be interested, Oubre could actually spark a small bidding war and make even more than that Marks projection.
Philly could probably use him back, but the 76ers also have enough perimeter depth to survive if Oubre goes elsewhere.
