Only a day into the NBA Offseason, and the Philadelphia 76ers might have just engaged in the deal of the summer, sending out Paul George to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Jaylen Brown, as reported by ESPN's Shams Charania.
What is the total package of the trade?

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) July 1, 2026According to Charania, the Sixers are sending Paul George, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks in exchange for the Celtics star, with the years of those picks being a 2028 first, 2031 unprotected first, and the second rounders being in 2028 and 2030 respectively.
The move for George will come after what was a lackluster two seasons in the City of Brotherly Love, failing to help the Sixers elevate their game, with a multitude of injuries and other off-court issues plaguing his time, most recently the 25-game suspension handed to the 16-year veteran in the middle of the 2025-26 season due to a violation of the NBA's anti-drug policy.
When he was on the court, George proved to be a serviceable option for Philadelphia, averaging 16.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game across his two-season stay at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
The move for Brown comes after what was an awkward end to the season with the Celtics, suffering an upsetting loss to the Sixers in the opening round of the NBA playoffs, which saw the five-time all-star spiral on stream following the match. But on the court, Brown was lethal for Boston, averaging 28.7 points and 6.9 rebounds per game, being named to the All-Star game, and finishing in sixth place for MVP voting.
When all is said and done, Philadelphia is dishing off what could've been quite the costly contract, and a few valuable picks down the line for a proven scorer, something that they could use.
