76ers All-Star links up with teammates for offseason workout

The NBA offseason is starting to come to a close, which means teams and players alike will start to return to the court to finalize their preparations for the campaign to come. While some players might be kicking their feet up, others are constantly working on their craft, which is more than the case with Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey, who has been spotted in the gym with some serious talents over the course of the last few weeks.

While some of these visits have shown Maxey working on his shot or his ability on the ball down the lane, his most recent gym sighting focused on something off the court: being a leader on the team. The latest workout featuring the 25-year-old saw him joined by some of his younger teammates, as second-year star VJ Edgecombe was there, as was recent first-round pick Labaron Philon Jr.

Edgecombe is coming off an impressive rookie season in the City of Brotherly Love, one that saw him break out in the league, averaging 16 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, converting on 43.8 percent of his shots from the field. All of this was enough for the Bahamian youngster to be named to the All-Rookie First Team.

Philon, on the other hand, will be entering the league after a few stellar years at the collegiate level, with his initial NBA Summer League performances showing that the Sixers are picking someone up with the blueprints of being a proven scorer, putting up 18.5 points a night during the slate of games he played in Las Vegas.

As for Maxey and his leadership, it's something the 25-year-old has been working on constantly over the last few seasons, as he's continued to gain veteran teammates to learn from, as well as experience in the league.

With the season sitting only a month and a half away, the NBA world and the Philadelphia faithful alike won't have to wait much longer to see what goes on at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.
