"My husband and I quickly fell in love with her even though we cared for her just for two days"

My husband and I have been feeding a stray cat. Almost a week ago we found out she had three kittens under our house. It's warm, they're in a corner so we're not worried of them being cold or discovered. Mama did a good job. They

  • 03

looked well, no visible signs of sickness and looked to be around 4-5 weeks. We still feed the mother and leave the babies alone. Yesterday I noticed meowing way louder than normal from

  • 04

one of the kittens. Because they're under our house I can hear from inside and outside. The meowing was going on all day. Still, I left it alone since there were signs the mama was still coming around. (She ate food I put out

that morning.) However, this morning the kitten was still meowing really loudly. Something didn't feel right so I went to check after being sure the mother wasn't around and there was only one

  • Oh goodness this is a sad start, both to the story and to this kitten’s life. It can be tough to stomach but mother nature has her tough side for sure, and in the endeavor of life, sometimes someone needs to be left behind. Thankfully, us hoomans do not answer to mother nature in quite the same way as cats do and this kitten was about to be given a second chance at life after being rejected by her mother. A bittersweet moment that is ironically made better by the fact that hoomans were around to intervene.

how loud it was when we first found them but seeing it was a different one I was pretty surprised. If the mother doesn't come back by the end of the day, what should I do? I don't want to interfere but I don't

Her name is Autumn! She's a tuxedo kitten, 4 weeks old, and now has a home with a loving family. I'm pregnant and with my husband working, I'd have to help her manually pc - and p

  • Well, yeah, we can more than understand why this couple is not in a position to keep this cute kitten to be theirs furever. After all, even under normal non pregnant conditions caring for a young kitten is a day and night operation which requires so much love, care and attention. But we can also completely understand how in giving that care and attention, even for a limited time you would fall head over heels for the tiny ball of fluff you are keeping alive. It is kinda like the opposite of Florence Nightingale syndrome.

loudly for a whole day under our house. We put her in the open where mama could hear and see her twice before we decided to keep her in our house rather than under it. Both times, mama stared, didn't approach, and kept

soft sheets with a heating pad under it, a fleece christmas top and a little folded up piece of clothing to cuddle with. Her first night warm, safe, and fed. Which was amazing timing because it rained and got colder that night.

The next day I gave her a little flea bath of warm water and dish soap and she did well even though she did hate it. We got those suckers off of her though, dried her off and she was purring like crazy and all over us the best she
