Sitting at 6-0, entering the Week 7 slate, the San Francisco 49ers are in the driver's seat in the NFC West and might be the most obvious buyer at this year's trade deadline.
But as buyers, where could the 49ers look to upgrade? The wide receiver room seems like an obvious issue to resolve with the team's injuries there. A different position might be of greater need, as defensive tackle is a real need for this 49ers' defense.
ESPN's Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter revealed that the 49ers, amid their DT need, "could decide to make a run at" Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, the three-time Pro Bowler, at this year's trade deadline.
49ers strongly linked to DeForest Buckner as possible trade target
One team that could decide to make a run at Buckner is the San Francisco 49ers, for whom the star defensive tackle played from 2016 through 2019, according to league sources," Schefter and Rapoport report.
While the 49ers might be far from alone in their interest in Buckner this season, they are the only team these NFL insiders noted as a potential landing spot for now.
Buckner, the former All-Pro and Pro Bowl defensive lineman who played with the 49ers previously in his career, would make a lot of sense for this team to acquire by the trade deadline.

San Francisco needs the defensive line, and with Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams coming back, the interior of the line might be a bigger need than the edges.
Buckner might be the best option available this season, unless Moro Ojomo of the Philadelphia Eagles were to become a viable trade target.
But with Buckner, the 49ers could bring back a familiar face to try and win a Super Bowl after half a decade apart. The familiarity there makes a deal very intriguing.
Indianapolis is likely to be trade deadline sellers, and Buckner, in the final year of his current deal, makes perfect sense as a trade candidate. For the 49ers, that's great news, as they'd make for the perfect landing spot for him this season.
