The San Francisco 49ers have a big problem at wide receiver going into the offseason.
Brandon Aiyuk has played his last snap with the Niners and Jauan Jennings is a pending free agent and isn't guaranteed to return. Making matters worse for San Francisco's offense, George Kittle is unlikely to be ready for the start of 2026 following a torn Achilles suffered in early January.
Ideally, the Niners add a mix of veteran and young talent to help Ricky Pearsall, and ESPN's Field Yates has San Fran checking the latter box by drafting Texas A&M wideout KC Concepcion with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2026 draft.
Here's Yates' take on Concepcion and his prediction of the 5-foot-11, 191-pound wide receiver landing with the 49ers:
The 49ers are desperate for help at wide receiver and edge rusher this offseason, but the latter has a natural lift coming with the return of Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams from ACL injuries. However, their top wide receiver (Jauan Jennings) is a free agent and Brandon Aiyuk is all but gone from the team.
Concepcion is an explosive play waiting to happen, as he scored 25 receiving touchdowns in three college seasons and took a pair of punts to the house during his lone season at Texas A&M. He's a contender for the fastest wideout in the class and would be a fun player for coach Kyle Shanahan.
Concepcion, who finished off his last college season with 61 catches for 919 yards and nine touchdowns, can do a little bit of everything on the football field.
Not only is he an asset in the short-to-intermediate areas, where he can rip off yards after the catch, but he's also got the elite speed to be an explosive weapon in the deep part of the field.
And with his skill set, we could definitely see head coach Kyle Shanahan scheming up several different ways to get the ball in his hands.
The biggest concern with Concepcion is his size, but we've seen him play bigger than that in contested catch situations, so he makes the most of his frame.
As Yates points out, the Niners could very well spring for an edge rusher in this spot, as that's another massive need.
However, if no edge rusher is worthy of a pick in this spot and Concepcion is on the board, we could see general manager John Lynch turning in the card for the Texas A&M prospect.
