Fred Warner is reshaping the salary landscape — again.

On Monday, the four-time All-Pro reached a three-year, $63 million extension with the 49ers, including $56 million in guaranteed money, making the 28-year-old the NFL’s highest-paid linebacker.

The deal marks the second time in his seven-year career he’s been atop the leaderboard when it comes to salary at the position, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Warner, selected 70th overall in the 2018 draft out of BYU, was set to enter the 2025 season with a $29.2 million cap hit.

The California native was in need of a new deal, as he previously had two years remaining on his contract, but nothing was guaranteed.

The massive extension comes just three days after the 49ers agreed to a five-year extension worth $265 million with Brock Purdy and a few weeks after tight end George Kittle’s four-year, $76.4 million deal.

In a season full of injuries, Warner still managed a solid campaign, accumulating four forced fumbles, two interceptions (including a pick-six for 70 yards), two quarterback hits and one sack across all 17 games

The 49ers, coming off a disappointing 6-11 campaign, will be looking to return to their 2023 form in which they dominated the NFC en route to a Super Bowl appearance against the Chiefs.

Warner will also look to add to his three-year streak of earning both a Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro nod.
