49ers linked to massive trade idea for $106.5 million All-Pro pass rusher

The San Francisco 49ers enter the 2026 season with some high hopes after a strong 2025 campaign. 

The 49ers were on the verge of the No. 1 seed last season, but dropped to the No.6 seed and eventually lost to their bitter rivals and eventual Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks.

Now the page has turned for the 49ers as they have high hopes of finishing at the top of their division and conference to give them the best path back to the Super Bowl.

A ton of things would need to go right for the 49ers, and while they have a strong roster, trading for a superstar could be the move that could put them over the top. If San Francisco decides to pursue a major roster shakeup, one recent suggestion had the team making a move for Maxx Crosby, the $106.5 million All-Pro edge rusher who could dramatically strengthen the defense.

Alex Kay of Bleacher Report suggested this massive trade idea for the 49ers that has them landing Crosby. 

"An organization like the San Francisco 49ers, who appear to be a piece or two away from making yet another Super Bowl run, could offer a first-round pick plus additional compensation for Crosby. He may not net Vegas another set of first-rounders after failing Baltimore's physical, but some Day 2 picks could be enough to get the Raiders to move on from Crosby for a second time this offseason." 

Crosby is back with the Las Vegas Raiders after the trade to the Baltimore Ravens was rescinded due to a failed physical.

While the Raiders have improved significantly on paper heading into the season, they still appear to be a long way from legitimate Super Bowl contention or even a deep playoff run.

The 49ers, meanwhile, find themselves on the opposite end of the spectrum, with a roster built to compete for a championship right now.

A player like Crosby could be just what the 49ers need to compete with the upper echelon teams in the league, and possibly push them over the top.  

On paper, San Francisco appears to be the third-best team in their own division. If they want to change that narrative, a trade for Crosby or a player of his caliber could do wonders.
