The San Francisco 49ers signed George Kittle to a long-term extension, something that was expected to happen during the offseason.
However, the 49ers now face the tough reality of what they have to do with Brock Purdy, and all indications point to them keeping him around on a new deal.
While Purdy and Kittle have different situations, and the 49ers had to pay the star tight end, it also means that he understands what Purdy is going through.
Speaking to reporters, he added that he talked to his quarterback, and that they had a lot to speak about due to where they're from.
"The only difference is, a quarterback's contract is significantly and astronomically different than a tight end's contract," Kittle said, per 49ers Web Zone. "Just trying to be realistic with him and trying to connect it as best I can.
"Me and Brock have a lot of things in common. Two kids that came out of — no one really had high expectations for either of us, and we both exceeded those expectations. I think he kind of took a rocket ship a little bit faster than I did. Mine was over the course of several years. His was over the course of like six games."

Both defying the odds from what they started with, Kittle and Purdy are one of the top duos in the NFL.
For Kittle, however, it sounds like he wants his quarterback paid. Purdy is hoping for the same after throwing for 9,500-plus yards and 64 touchdowns in his first three seasons with the 49ers.
Twenty-five years old, his contract will be much more expensive than Kittle’s.
