49ers' future outlook is slightly worrying amid ESPN's under-25 ranking

The San Francisco 49ers are one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFL, and it shouldn't be a surprise that a team this good has an older roster.

But just being a contender and having an older roster doesn't mean the 49ers can't have some high-upside youngsters on the roster. Their players under 25 years old are key to the future of the franchise, but their current options aren't the best.

ESPN's Aaron Schatz handed out rankings for every team based on their players under 25 years old, and the 49ers, with Mykel Williams as the most notable name, are ranked 27th overall in the NFL, a slightly worrying ranking.

Coming in at 27th overall on the under-25 rankings from ESPN, the 49ers are not the lowest-ranked team from the NFC West. That honor goes to the Los Angeles Rams, as they're all-in and ranked 32nd in the league.

But the 49ers' ranking of 27th overall is still a bit worrying. While it's not anything to overly stress about, since the 49ers are a competitive team, and should be able to draft fine in the future to rise these rankings.

They've already gone up three spots, as their current under-25 options of Upton Stout, Malik Mustapha, Marques Sigle, Alfred Collins, and Williams on defense are a good starting point.

Offensively, Connor Colby, Carver Willis, Jordan James, and rookies De'Zhaun Stribling and Kaelon Black make up the under-25 options on the 49ers offense.

While their 27th-place ranking might be low, there are still some players under 25 years old who have some potential for the 49ers for the upcoming season.

San Francisco does need to hit on their draft picks in the next few seasons, as this 27th-place ranking could easily get worse as their young players age.

But, there's no denying that they'll need some better under-25 players soon, as this ranking makes the team's future outlook a little bit worrying for the 49ers.
