The San Francisco 49ers are getting rid of one of their former second-round picks.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Friday that the 49ers are waiving Drake Jackson.
The move comes with a failed physical designation due to a knee injury. Schefter reports that Jackson likely would've been ready by training camp, but isn't healthy yet for the offseason program.
The 49ers chose Jackson in the 2022 second round.
He missed all of the 2024 season.
Jackson made 23 San Francisco appearances overall, recording 21 tackles, six sacks and an interception.

San Francisco adding to its pass-rushing group in the first round this year with Mykel Williams. The 49ers are led up front by Nick Bosa.
Jackson was a star at USC before coming to the NFL.
He had 12.5 college sacks and 26 tackles for loss.

The 49ers made him the 61st pick in 2022, two choices before the Bills took star running back James Cook.
San Francisco's third-round pick in that draft was worked out even worse. They chose RB Tyrion Davis-Price at No. 93 overall, and he had just 40 rushes for San Francisco before spending most of 2024 on the Eagles practice squad.
