The San Francisco 49ers have somehow been able to put together a 5-2 record this 2025 season despite being one of the most injury-riddled teams throughout the entire NFL.

San Francisco will be without defensive stars Nick Bosa (torn ACL) and Fred Warner (ankle) for the rest of the 2025 season. But after getting tight end George Kittle back from the IR in Week 7, the hope was for the team to trend upward in the injured room.

This won't exactly be the case for the 49ers in Week 8 against the Houston Texans

QB Brock Purdy and WR Ricky Pearsall listed as out for Week 8 vs. Texans

On Friday, senior NFL insider Adam Schefter announced that quarterback Brock Purdy (toe) and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) will be out for Week 8 against the Houston Texans.

Purdy, 25, will miss his sixth game of the 2025 regular season while continuing to recover from a turf toe injury. The injury bug got to him this season after signing a five-year, $265 million contract during the summer.

San Francisco will look to rely on backup quarterback Mac Jones once again, who has been impressive while replacing Purdy this season. Through five starts, Jones has led the 49ers to a 4-1 record, passing for 1,404 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions.

His receiving corps hasn't been the most reliable. either. Ricky Pearsall is set to miss his fourth straight game after suffering a knee sprain in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. George Kittle has played in only two games this season after signing an extension of his own this summer, and Jauan Jennings continues to play through multiple injuries and isn't fully healthy.

Mac Jones and the 49ers will try to put together another win without their franchise quarterback as they travel to Houston to take on the Texans on Sunday.
