The San Francisco 49ers came into the 2026 NFL offseason with a lot of work to do on both sides of the ball, especially at edge rusher and wide receiver.
While the 49ers didn't end up signing or trading for an edge rusher yet, they did make a big move at wide receiver, signing Mike Evans away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That has left Jauan Jennings, the top 49ers free agent, without a spot in San Francisco.
As one of the top players left in free agency, Jennings' landing spot will be of interest. And according to Saad Yousuf of The Athletic, his best fit this offseason is with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East.
Jauan Jennings' best fit is with the Bills
"Jennings is another reliable target who has played well in his first five NFL seasons in San Francisco," Yousuf writes. "Neither he nor Moore is expected to be a legit No. 1 type of receiver, but having two players at that level could help bring the best out of each of them."
Jennings, the top free agent from the 49ers this offseason, would be a good fit in Buffalo with the Bills and Allen.
Even though they already made a big wide receiver move, trading a second-round pick to the Chicago Bears for D.J. Moore, the Bills need more help at the WR spot.
The 49ers let Jennings walk because he wasn't a number one wide receiver, but for a team like the Bills, which saw some very shaky play from the WR room last year, Jennings and Moore would be perfect pickups to raise the floor of the room.

And Jennings isn't a slouch either. He caught 55 passes for 643 yards and nine touchdowns this past season despite playing banged up for much of the year.
While he might not be the number one WR, paired with Moore and Khalil Shakir in Buffalo, Allen should be able to get the most out of all three wide receivers if Jennings were to end up in Buffalo.
San Francisco likely won't be re-signing Jennings with their Evans addition. That opens the door for the Bills to swoop in and sign the 28-year-old wide receiver.
Yousuf named Jennings to the Bills as one of the best fits for a remaining top free agent this offseason. And fittingly, former Bills edge rusher Joey Bosa was named as a perfect free agent fit with the 49ers.
Jennings to the Bills and Bosa to the 49ers would be a win for both teams and for both players. Neither will likely be too expensive, but they would be major upgrades for their new respective teams if Yousuf's best fits were to come true.
