A 48-year-old megastar has been named better than The Rock, Hulk Hogan, and Stone Cold Steve Austin by Matt Hardy. The three stars are largely seen as the biggest names in WWE, but according to Hardy, there is one name above them.
Speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the tag team legend discussed whether John Cena was the greatest WWE star of all time.
Matt mentioned that it is hard to argue that the Never Seen-17 isn't the biggest WWE star. He said he helped WWE overcome a lean period and was always loyal to the company.
"It’s hard to dispute that he is not the greatest WWE superstar of all time. There is no one that worked harder than John Cena. There was no one that was more loyal to WWE than John Cena. And that's why I'm glad there is no one that has been a world champion more times than John Cena. So yes, in my opinion, I think he is probably the most significant WWE wrestler, champion, greatest of all time WWE wrestler there's ever been," he said.Is Rhea a Bigger Draw Than Brock Lesnar? - Watch Here!
Hardy then compared other legends such as The Rock and Austin to Cena and broke down why the 17-time WWE World Champion tops the list.
"Steve Austin was a great company representative when he was on top. And then Steve had times where, you know, he was p**sed off, and he walked out. He wasn’t always someone that was the greatest role model. Rock’s run was not long enough. I mean, John was there killing for almost 20 years straight. Even with Hogan, I probably subtract points from him just because he did leave WWE, and he went to WWE, and he was kind of leaning. I mean, John Cena is a WWE lifer," he added. You can watch the video below:
The Rock was an integral part of John Cena's retirement tour
Earlier this year when John Cena kicked off his retirement tour, The Rock became an integral part of an infamous moment.
At the Elimination Chamber premium live event, Cena turned heel after over two decades of being a babyface. He shook hands with The Brahma Bull and attacked Cody Rhodes to cement his status as an on-screen villain.
However, The Rock remained absent for the rest of Cena's run as a heel before The Champ returned to being the beloved babyface at SummerSlam.
