4 things Chris Jericho can still do in AEW if he doesn't return to WWE

Chris Jericho is one of the most renowned names in the history of professional wrestling. While the majority of his peers and contemporaries have ridden off into the sunset or retired from the squared circle, Jericho is still an in-ring performer, even after three decades in the business.

After spending years as a top attraction for WWE, Jericho signed with AEW in 2019, becoming their first signee in the process. He served as a veteran competitor on the roster since then; however, the former Undisputed Champion has been absent from their television with his last appearance being in April 2025.

Amidst his prolonged hiatus, Jericho has been rumored to return to WWE for one final run in wrestling. However, should that debate be all fire and no smoke, here are four things Chris Jericho could do in AEW.

#4. Form a new faction

Chris Jericho has been the creator of top factions during his stay in AEW. He started off with Inner Circle, which elevated stars with huge potential, like MJF, to the next level. Most recently, he worked with Big Bill and Bryan Keith as part of The Learning Tree. With stables seemingly becoming one of his pivotal things in All Elite Wrestling, the Demo God could form another unit, comprising new stars to bring them into the major spotlight. However, for that, Jericho would have to abandon the idea of returning to WWE and staying in AEW.

#3. Dream matches

Chris Jericho has competed against the likes of top stars like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, and more in his illustrious career. Even in AEW, the former Ucho has wrestled marquee names like Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley. However, there are still dream matches left for Jericho to participate in All Elite Wrestling. Should he return to the company, the Ayatollah of Rock' n' Rolla could compete in those bouts against veterans like Adam Copeland or even his old tag team partner, Christian Cage.

#2. Elevate a rising AEW star

When athletes attain veteran status in the wrestling business, many of them work with younger talent to help them elevate to the next level. Chris Jericho can be at the top of that list, who is all about giving back to the industry that made him an icon. Should he make his return to the Jacksonville-based promotion, Tony Khan could pair him in a high-profile rivalry with a rising star like Kyle Fletcher, Daniel Garcia, or Darby Allin, utilizing his star power to benefit their young careers.

#1. One last run as champion

Chris Jericho defeated Kenny Omega at the inaugural AEW pay-per-view, Double or Nothing 2019, and became the first-ever AEW World Champion. Over the years, he also won the FTW championship, leaving other belts out of his resume. So, should he make his way back to Tony Khan's company, Jericho could go after the other championships, like the TNT or Unified title, or even the newly introduced AEW National Championship. The promotion could use Jericho's status to elevate the other titles to new heights and give Jericho one more run as champion.
