The New York Giants have had a topsy-turvy season so far. That's what happens when you lose your franchise quarterback early to an injury that'll keep him off the field for the rest of the year.
But, that's in the past, and now, the Giants have traded with the Minnesota Vikings to snag quarterback J.J. McCarthy to fill in for Jaxson Dart. Next up, the team plays the Arizona Cardinals, and McCarthy won't start yet, but he will at some point soon.
Now, adding insult to injury, four Giants players are getting punished by the NFL.
Four Giants players are getting hit with NFL fines
Every Saturday during the season, the NFL issues a tally of punishments to certain players who break the rules the weekend before. "The rules are intended to protect the players from unnecessary risk, promote player safety and emphasize sportsmanship and respect of teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and fans," the NFL explains on its official website.
During the weekend, ahead of the Week 4 games, the NFL handed four Giants players punishments, and they weren't little. Abdul Carter was fined $11,941 for unsportsmanlike conduct for taunting in the fourth quarter with 24 seconds remaining. Shelby Harris was also fined $11,941 for unnecessary roughness for a facemask penalty in the fourth quarter at 11:28.
Meanwhile, Isaiah Likely received the largest fine, $17,911, for unnecessary roughness on a blindside block in the second quarter at 7:04. Cam Skattebo was fined $7,073 for unnecessary roughness for use of the helmet in the first quarter at 1:10.
So, four Giants players are in a bit of trouble as this team heads into Week 4. But, the fines go to a good cause in the Professional Athletes Foundation.
