4 Denver Broncos players put on high notice following 2025 NFL Draft selections

The Denver Broncos have added seven new players to their roster and though the team's choices in the 2025 NFL Draft have been met with mixed reviews from the fanbase, some players on the team could be greatly impacted by the moves the team made. 

This is the case with any draft as rookies are chosen with the thought of them having an impact quickly on the team. Looking at the current Broncos roster, some of these picks will impact players already on the roster. 

Quite a bit of things must materialize this summer in training camp and preseason games before anything becomes official, but these four players will need to perform well to hold off the newcomers from cutting into their snap counts or taking their jobs entirely. 

Jaleel McLaughlin, Running Back

The Broncos used their second-round pick on running back R.J. Harvey. Whether or not he's a three-down back remains to be seen, but what he is is a very similar version of Jaleel McLaughlin, just with more explosiveness. Harvey could easily supplant McLaughlin in the lineup. 

There will still be a place for Audric Estime as the team's power back, but McLaughlin could be relegated to a reduced role if Harvey is as good as some think he can be. 

Ja'Quan McMillian, Cornerback

I discussed this at length here, but the first-round selection of Jahdae Barron is definitely going to cut into the role Ja'Quan McMillian had carved out in the secondary.

McMillian has been a great find for the Broncos, especially as an undrafted player, but Barron is going to be a big part of the defense right out of the gate as a rookie. 

John Franklin-Myers, Defensive Lineman

It's no fault of John Franklin-Myers but the business side of the NFL can make things difficult. As good as Franklin-Myers played last season, he will be a free agent following the season but the team has to consider that Nik Bonitto, Zach Allen and Courtland Sutton are all going to be looking for new deals as well. 

There's a good possibility that the team won't be able to afford Franklin-Myers, which was likely a part of the motivation in trading back into the third round to select LSU's Sai'vion Jones. 

Matt Haack, Punter

The Broncos signed Matt Haack as a free agent since there wasn't a punter on the roster, but he wasn't seen as a long-term option. After drafting Jeremy Crenshaw out of Florida in the sixth round, he will officially be in a battle to ever play a down for the team.
