3 WWE Superstars who should not get a title shot against CM Punk

CM Punk is once again the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Jey Uso at Saturday Night's Main Event to win back the title, which he lost within five minutes at SummerSlam three months earlier. With this, the Straight Edge Superstar is now a three-time World Heavyweight Champion.

The company would certainly be booking a few superstars to challenge Punk for the title, and the next big match could take place at Survivor Series: WarGames. In this listicle, we will shed light on three superstars WWE shouldn't book against Punk for the title defense.

#3 Jey Uso

CM Punk and Jey Uso's rivalry is far from interesting. It's a clash of two babyfaces, with the other slightly exhibiting a heel turn. In fact, the fans never wanted Jey to win the Battle Royal to challenge Punk for the gold at SNME.

Instead, they rallied behind LA Knight, whom they wanted to get a title shot. Jey also got significant heat for proceeding to SNME as CM Punk's challenger.

So, booking him against Punk once again on RAW wouldn't be a good idea. While the fans might be backing him till now as a babyface, his popularity has waned in the past few weeks, since he has once again started exhibiting heel vibes.

Moreover, it is anticipated that the Yeet Master can even stay away from in-ring competition after losing at SNME. He even posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account, writing, 'Y'all win' after losing to Punk.

#2 Sheamus

Sheamus is another superstar who shouldn't be challenging CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. His storyline with CM Punk, if it happens, won't generate any hype whatsoever. Although he is a three-time WWE Champion and one-time World Heavyweight Champion, the Celtic Warrior doesn't enjoy the same popularity he once had.

In fact, he is now not even booked as a main event WWE superstar and is instead involved in mini-feuds. Sheamus hardly competes at big WWE PLEs, and in the past one and a half years, since his return, he hasn't gone for a title match. The 47-year-old superstar isn't looked upon as a big superstar now.

#1 Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther

Although Gunther can challenge CM Punk for a rematch after losing to him at SummerSlam, this storyline, once again, won't be a compelling one.

Getting Gunther to challenge Punk for the title also wouldn't be a great idea because he has been involved in the World Heavyweight title picture for the past year. He has already held the title for 258 days in his first run before dropping it to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41. His second reign lasted for 53 days. Therefore, there doesn't appear to be any reason for getting him back in the title picture.

The Ring General has been away from the ring for the past three months. He was written off TV after losing the title to Punk, and has undergone nose surgery. It remains to be seen when he makes a comeback to WWE.
