3 teams that should make a trade for Shedeur Sanders

On Monday, Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken officially announced Deshaun Watson as the team's starting quarterback for the first week of the regular season.

That leaves second-year signal-caller Shedeur Sanders as quarterback No. 2. He's the backup, at best, and even though he may get a chance to start if Watson doesn't deliver, this also opens up the idea of another team trading to get Sanders.

There are a lot of teams in the NFL right now that need a solid backup quarterback. One of them could see this as an opening to get a guy who's already started a bunch in the NFL and has some, not a ton, but some experience. So, here are three teams that could trade for Sanders or at least have interest.

Three teams that could target Shedeur Sanders

New England Patriots

The Patriots have Drake Maye, who's great, but if he goes down, their options are limited. They do have Tommy DeVito, formerly of the New York Giants, behind him, but DeVito's performance in the NFL has been up and down. Having another solid quarterback behind Maye could help the Pats rest easy at night.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins have given Malik Willis the QB1 job, with new head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan putting their faith in him. However, they have a depth problem.

Rookie Quinn Ewers is currently dubbed the main backup to Willis, but he hasn't been able to participate lately due to a groin injury. Of all the NFL teams out there in need of a good backup quarterback, the Dolphins are really the No. 1 team with that roster hole, and Sanders would be a solid backup.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Of course, the Steelers already have way too many quarterbacks with four: Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and Drew Allar. But Sanders is still an enticing option because of what he could bring to this franchise for the future. Sanders has shown flashes of being able to be a real NFL starting quarterback. The Steelers could trade to get him and look at Sanders as someone they could actually train for the future. Or, at the very least, he'd provide a solid QB3 behind Rodgers and Rudolph.
