John Cena is now a Grand Slam Champion. This week on RAW, he made history by defeating Dominik Mysterio to finally win the title he has never held in his legendary career, the Intercontinental Championship.

The Franchise Player is now set to make his final appearance on Monday Night RAW as an active wrestler next week. Since the creative team is currently preparing the build-up to the Men's WarGames Match, there is a strong possibility he could be added to CM Punk's babyface team.

However, given that many fans suggest the creative team should avoid pulling the trigger on this move, let's explore three reasons why the GOAT must not join CM Punk's team for WarGames:

Secret reason behind John Cena's massive win - Watch Here!

#3. To set up an Intercontinental Championship defense at Survivor Series

After winning the Intercontinental Championship this week, many fans believe that it would be more ideal for John Cena to defend his newly won title at Survivor Series rather than participating in the Men's WarGames Match.

Interestingly, defending the IC Title at the upcoming premium live event could add more prestige to the gold and garner much more excitement among fans. Although it's very unlikely for the company to strip Cena of the belt so soon, having him defend it before his retirement could add an exciting element to his farewell run.

#2. To set up John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar for the Intercontinental Title

Brock Lesnar made his return at SummerSlam and entered into a program with John Cena. He finally had his match with The Franchise Player at Wrestlepalooza, where The Beast squashed Cena, leaving the WWE Universe disappointed.

Having captured the Intercontinental Championship from Dominik Mysterio, many fans are now suggesting that the creative team should plan The Beast Incarnate's return on the upcoming episode of the red brand to reignite his feud with the GOAT.

Interestingly, Brock Lesnar could then challenge John Cena to a match at Survivor Series for the IC Title. If this happens, it would enable Cena to even the odds after Wrestlepalooza.

#1. To allow someone else to take the spot

Currently, it appears that LA Knight and Jimmy Uso are the only major babyfaces not confirmed for the upcoming Men's WarGames Match. Hence, if John Cena doesn't join CM Punk's team, it could enable either Knight or Jimmy to take the last spot.

Moreover, Knight and Uso are likely to benefit more if they are featured in the star-studded squad in San Diego, as many believe that The Franchise Player doesn't need to participate in the WarGames to have a memorable retirement run.
