3 players set to make debuts in Manchester United's 2025/26 season

Manchester United have brought in some new faces to Old Trafford in the ongoing summer transfer window, with rumors suggesting more additions are to come for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

The Red Devils had a disappointing run in the last campaign, ranking 15th in the Premier League, which is the lowest in the club's history, and winning no silverware.

This situation anticipates that Man United head coach Ruben Amorim will make significant changes to his squad to ensure a successful 2025/26 season campaign.

Man United have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Diego Leon from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno this summer.

The Red Devils also acquired Enzo Kana-Biyik's signature on a free transfer from French club Le Havre and have loaned him to Swiss Super League side Lausanne-Sport.

Following their five pre-season matches ahead of the beginning of the 2025/26 Premier League, some players are expected to make their competitive debuts for Man United in the upcoming campaign.

Matheus Cunha

Cunha arrived at Man United from Wolves on a five-year contract, with the option of an additional year for a reported fee of £62.5m [$83.5m].

The 26-year-old forward turned heads with his performances for Wolves last season, recording 17 goals and six assists in 36 matches.

The Brazilian star is expected to make his debut for Man United in their opening game of the Premier League against Arsenal on August 17 at Old Trafford.

Diego Leon

Back in January, Man United announced that they would sign Leon from his boyhood club Cerro Porteno, and the deal was finalised this month.

The 18-year-old left-back's deal with the Red Devils has been reported to be worth around £3.3m and could rise to £7m with add-ons.

The Paraguayan star has made 33 senior appearances for Cerro Porteno, scoring four goals.

Leon has also expressed his confidence about making his place in Amorim's squad right away, raising expectations of his potential first-team debut in the upcoming season. He told Versus,

"I'm really happy, I think every player dreams of this. When you're a professional, you have to adapt quickly, it is a massive opportunity. Everyone thinks I'll go out on loan, but I don’t have that mindset. I'm going to kill it in pre-season and within one or two games, I'll already be playing with them," as per GOAL.

Harley Emsden-James

Man United have also signed Harley Emsden-James from Southampton’s academy for a reported compensation fee of £1m, with the Championship side retaining a 20% sell-on clause.

The 16-year-old defender, who has also represented England at the youth level, may receive a first-team call-up by Amorim and make his debut in the 2025/26 season.

Man United have also been heavily linked to signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer, and if this potential deal is reached, the 25-year-old would also be making his debut in the upcoming campaign.
