The Toronto Maple Leafs dropped their second decision to the Boston Bruins in less than a week on Tuesday night at the TD Garden. The Bruins jumped out to a 4-1 lead before the Leafs closed to gap to 4-3. Boston eventually pulled away, sealing their seventh victory in a row.

David Pastrnak scored twice, including his 400th career goal, with Pavel Zacha (PPG), Hampus Lindholm (PPG), and former Leaf Alex Steeves getting the other tallies. Meanwhile, Steven Lorentz (SHG), Bobby McMann (PPG), and Oliver Ekman-Larsson got the goals for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Toronto lost captain Auston Matthews midway through the second period following a hit from behind by Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov.

So, here’s a look at the three least impressive Toronto Maple Leafs players from their loss to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night.

3 least impressive Toronto Maple Leafs from loss to Boston Bruins

#3 Jake McCabe

The Toronto Maple Leafs veteran blueliner had somewhat of a rough night against the Bruins. He was on the ice for two even-strength goals that were hardly flattering.

Here’s a look at McCabe’s role in Pastrnak’s 400th career goal, as shown on the Bruins’ official X account:

Pastrnak got the lead pass, splitting the Maple Leafs' defense. He beat Morgan Rielly cleanly while McCabe didn’t even try to catch up. McCabe left Pastrnak to goalie Dennis Hildeby. To Hildeby’s credit, Pastrnak made a filthy move on him.

McCabe hit the ice for 21:19 across 28 shifts, blocking four shots and getting two penalty minutes.

#2 Matias Maccelli

Matias Maccelli seems to have cooled off for the Toronto Maple Leafs after a string of successful games. He played for just 12:22 across 15 shifts on the nice. He managed one shot on goal, and what a bit of an afterthought as the game progressed.

Maccelli has been a healthy scratch this season. So, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him fall out of the lineup for the Maple Leafs’ next game.

#1 Anthony Stolarz

The Maple Leafs' starting netminder was chased for the second time in a row by the Boston Bruins. Stolarz left the game after the first period. He surrendered three goals on 11 shots.

The Leafs announced that Stolarz had actually left the game due to an upper-body injury. Perhaps that explained his poor outing. Dennis Hildeby relieved Stolarz, making 19 saves the rest of the way.

The Leafs will be back on the ice on Thursday night against the LA Kings, looking to end their current three-game skid.
