The Montreal Canadiens were on the wrong end of a 5-1 shellacking at the hands of the LA Kings on Tuesday night at the Cell Centre. The Kings rode a three-goal second period to cruise to the victory.

Josh Anderson opened the scoring late in the first period for the Montreal Canadiens. After that, it was all Kings. Joel Edmundson, Quinton Byfield, Kevin Fiala, Joel Armia, and Warren Foegele got the goals for the Kings.

So, here’s a closer look at the three least impressive Montreal Canadiens players from their loss to the LA Kings on Tuesday night at home.

3 least impressive Montreal Canadiens players from loss to LA Kings

#3 Noah Dobson

The Montreal Canadiens blueliner had a tough night against the Kings. He hit the ice for 22:31 across 23 shifts. While Dobson had three shots on goal and four blocks, his role in two of the Kings’ goals did not help his team’s cause.

Here’s a look at an example as shown on the Kings’ official X account:

The goal came on a delayed penalty call on the Canadiens. The Habs never got possession of the puck to trigger the whistle. Instead, the Kings controlled the play until they scored. Meanwhile, Dobson was unable to do anything to prevent Byfield from tapping the puck past Samuel Montembeault.

#2 Kirby Dach

The Montreal Canadiens forward had a rough game of his own. He hit the ice for 15:43 across 20 shifts. He managed just one shot on goal, while racking up a minus-2 rating. He also accrued four penalty minutes.

The 24-year-old saw this three-game point streak snapped on Tuesday night. He had been on a bit of a hot streak, scoring four of his five goals this season over his last four games. Canadiens’ fans hope the outing against the Kings is nothing more than a blip on the radar.

#1 Samuel Montembeault

The Canadiens' starting netminder had a regrettable game on Tuesday night. He surrendered four goals on 25 shots. What compounded matters was the fact that the Habs led the game after 20 minutes. Unfortunately, Montembeault was unable to keep his club in the game.

A good example of Montembeault’s poor outing came on this play:

The replay showed how Montembeault let the puck through the crease instead of poke-checking it or covering it up. It seemed that there was some miscommunication among the Canadiens’ players, allowing Kevin Fiala to make the game 3-1.

The Canadiens will have another shot at getting back in the win column on Thursday night as they host the Dallas Stars at the Bell Centre.
