There have been several stars who have made a move from WWE to AEW and vice versa. There have even been cases where individuals have had runs with the other company before eventually returning to where it all started for them.

Wrestlers do this to pursue further opportunities, reinvent themselves, or even chase lifelong dreams. For those who have jumped ship, several of them have become better versions of themselves in the ring or their overall development.

However, some former WWE names have found more than just excellence in the ring upon moving to AEW. Several of them have found love and even their partners with whom they have settled down.

Here are some of them.

R-Truth wanted to 'kill' former WWE writer. More details HERE

#1. Mercedes Moné is one-half of AEW's latest couple

The luchador Beast Mortos took to Instagram last night to post a picture of himself and Mercedes, along with a caption in Spanish that when translated reads “In your arms, I find peace.” The CEO reposted this, but would not confirm anything until earlier today.

She revealed to TMZ that they were indeed dating and mentioned how this was a real beauty and the beast situation.

Moné joined AEW in March last year following her long tenure in WWE and her brief stint with NJPW. Her run as a singles competitor has been flawless, and it seems she has also found something else to hold onto, apart from her collection of titles.

#2. Ruby Soho

In November 2023, Ruby Soho and Angelo Parker began a romance storyline on-screen, as they began flirting when they crossed paths on AEW Rampage. Parker continued his advances and finally got Ruby's attention, as they would be more open about their interest in one another, despite Saraya disliking this.

In April 2024, Soho would reveal during an in-ring segment on Rampage that she was pregnant. Many wondered if this was in kayfabe for a storyline, but it was revealed that the two were indeed a real-life couple and were expecting. They got married a month later, and Ruby has since then given birth to their child.

She has yet to make a return to the ring, while her husband returned in January this year.

#3. Tay Melo

Tay Melo (FKA Taynara Conti) was previously signed with WWE for around four years. She even appeared in the Mae Young Classic and had a brief stint with NXT. She signed with AEW in 2020 and would go on to meet Sammy Guevara.

They began dating in 2022 and got married the same year. At Double or Nothing in 2023, the couple revealed that they were expecting a child. The two have now returned to being active competitors after spending some time with their daughter Luna.

Melo made her return at Fyter Fest two weeks ago and competed in her first match in two years at Summer Blockbuster last week.

Love is in the air in AEW, as some stars have gone on to find their life partners after their move to the Jacksonville-based promotion. Apart from these former WWE Superstars, there are many couples within the promotion.

It remains to be seen if there are other surprises on the way.

About the author

Enzo Curabo

Enzo is a Pro Wrestling journalist at Sportskeeda, reporting on AEW. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Studies, which influenced his decision of taking up sports writing professionally, and has been an avid fan of the athletic theater since childhood. He believes readers deserve authentic and unique content and aims to report in a manner which pro wrestling fans can easily relate to.

Growing up, Enzo admired former world champions like AJ Styles, Will Ospreay, Bryan Danielson, Triple H, and Randy Orton for their finishing moves. As an adult, he started to appreciate their character work, as they juggled between heel and babyface gimmicks.

If allowed to produce one final storyline involving his idols, he would have Orton lock horns with John Cena, would be their one last big feud as both of them seem to be approaching the tail end of their careers.

Other than pro wrestling, Enzo enjoys keeping up with Basketball, Football, and Formula One. He also loves watching films, playing video games, and listening to music.
