$260 million All-Star hints at Yankees trade on social media

The New York Yankees have had a busy offseason after losing Juan Soto to the New York Mets. They could be in the market for another All-Star after adding Cody Bellinger, Paul Goldschmidt and Devin Williams. Nolan Arenado has been dropping hints about where he wants to play on social media and his recent activity points towards the Yankees.

Earlier this offseason Arenado was dropping hints about playing for the Dodgers, and that is still his top choice according to MLB insider John Denton. However, his recent Instagram likes suggest he may want to play in the Bronx.

Arenado liked fan comments on his post asking him if he's ready to join the Yankees and keep playing with Goldschmidt.

MLB.com's John Denton, Mark Feinsand and Bryan Hoch revealed that the Yankees could win the trade sweepstakes for Nolan Arenado by first signing Paul Goldschmidt. The Yankees signed Goldschmidt to a one-year deal earlier this week. Arenado could be inclined to waive his no-trade clause to keep playing with Goldschmidt.

Trading for Arenado could allow the Yankees to move Jazz Chisholm Jr. to second base. That would make their starting infield a group of Arenado, Anthony Volpe, Chisholm and Goldschmidt. That paired with the addition of Bellinger could be enough to replace the hole left when Soto left.

Arenado signed an eight-year, $260 million extension with the Colorado Rockies before he was traded to the Cardinals. He is an eight-time All-Star, five-time Silver Slugger, 10-time Gold Glover and six-time Platinum Glover. He had just 16 home runs in 2024. His OPS+ was still over 100.
