The Brewers now await the winner of the Rays vs. Guardians ALCS before the Fall Classic gets underway
Oct 18, 2026 at 3:03 pm ET • 3 min read
Now tied 2-2, the ALCS between the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays is set to resume with a critical Game 5 on Sunday in Cleveland. With the series down to best-of-three, Drew Rasmussen will take the ball for the visiting Rays while rookie Parker Messick gets the start for the Guardians.
The Rays evened the series on Saturday as their offense finally broke out in a 7-3 Game 4 win. Junior Caminero, Jonathan Aranda and Yandy Díaz led the charge, while the bullpen held down the Cleveland hitters after Nick Martinez's strong start.
There will be no more off days in the ALCS, with a potential Game 7 set for Tuesday. Whoever wins the series will be moving on to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2026 World Series.
The Brewers are headed to the World Series for the first time since 1982 after completing an NLCS sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night. The Brewers have secured their first National League pennant and will now attempt to win the franchise's first title. World Series Game 1 is set for Friday, Oct. 23.
The MLB playoff bracket is down to three teams. The Padres, Yankees, Braves and White Sox were all knocked out in the LDS round, while the Phillies, Astros, Red Sox and Cubs were sent packing in the Wild Card Series.
