There is plenty of hype around the Texas Longhorns in 2025.
Not only does Texas have the Heisman favorite, Arch Manning, under center, but the Longhorns are also projected to win the SEC in 2025.
Bookmakers at FanDuel have installed the Longhorns as a +270 favorite to win the SEC, putting them just ahead of Georgia (+400) and Alabama (+500).
Texas made it to the SEC championship game in 2024, the school’s first season in the conference, but lost to Georgia, 22-19, in overtime.
Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns own the second-shortest odds to win the national championship behind Ohio State.
The price on Alabama will certainly be an interesting watch as the summer wears on, as Kalen DeBoer will feel some heat after an inconsistent debut campaign saw the Crimson Tide finish 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the SEC.
Alabama’s days as a public darling may be dwindling, so we could see this number drift.
Another coach feeling the pressure will be LSU’s Brian Kelly. The Bayou Bengals endured another up-and-down campaign in 2024 and had to settle for a date with Baylor in the Texas Bowl.
The Tigers have lost at least three games in all three seasons with Kelly at the helm, but they should be in a solid position to contend in the SEC with Garrett Nussmeier, the second-favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, under center for his senior campaign.
LSU is +950 to win the SEC, tied with Ole Miss for the fourth-shortest odds.
While the teams at the top of the board will likely attract most of the betting support in this market, don’t be surprised if South Carolina (17/1) and Florida (20/1) become trendy picks in the SEC.
Florida was expected to have a down year in 2024, but exceeded expectations against a tough schedule and introduced the world to star-in-the-making quarterback DJ Lagway.
DJ Lagway burst onto the scene for the Florida Gators in 2024. APWith plenty of positive momentum behind them, the Gators could end up as a popular dark horse in this field.
South Carolina also had a resurgent campaign 2024 thanks to the emergence of a star quarterback. LaNorris Sellers established himself as one of the country’s most exciting players in Columbia, and he’ll be a popular Heisman shout at 18/1 odds.
