The F1 Brazilian GP is done and dusted, and we have Lando Norris winning both the sprint and the main race. As always, the track delivered spectacular and captivating racing, and we had intriguing battles throughout the field.

In the end, the rain that had threatened to make an appearance all weekend stayed away, and we still ended up having a brilliant weekend overall. As the circus moves on from the F1 Brazilian GP, how did each driver fare over the weekend? Let's take a look.

Criteria

  • Performance in both qualifying and races is judged.
  • Results achieved compared to the potential of the car.
  • Mistakes made over the weekend.
  • Relative performance against teammate.

2025 F1 Brazilian GP: Rating the drivers

McLaren

Lando Norris

Rating: 10

Two weekends in a row, Lando Norris has been flawless in not only his execution but the timing of it all. He came into the F1 Brazilian GP one point ahead of his teammate and left with a 24-point lead. Everything is coming together for the Brit now.

Oscar Piastri

Rating: 5

In essence, it all came down to Oscar Piastri just not being fast enough. The Australian started P1 well and seemed quicker than his teammate. But once things started falling apart and Norris kicked things into another gear, he couldn't keep up.

Oscar Piastri is now on the back foot, and things don't look too good for him.

Ferrari

Charles Leclerc

Rating: 8

Spectacularly brilliant once again in that Ferrari but woefully unlucky. Charles Leclerc getting punted out was something he would not have expected, but up until that point, the driver was quite spectacular.

Lewis Hamilton

Rating: 4.5

Lewis Hamilton came to the F1 Brazilian GP full of hope; he left the weekend admitting that the year had been a nightmare. It's just not good enough at this point.

Red Bull

Max Verstappen

Rating: 9

Almost another sensational F1 Brazilian GP from Max Verstappen. It took Red Bull until Sunday to figure out the car, and once it did, the driver was just spectacular.

A missed opportunity? Yes. But that's not on the driver.

Yuki Tsunoda

Rating: 4

Yuki Tsunoda is in a hapless situation right now, where the driver struggles to gain any momentum, but when he does, the team just pulls him back. The sprint section of the race weekend was poor for Yuki, but then came the Grand Prix, and the team poorly executed his 10-second penalty, dropping him out of contention.

Unfortunately for Yuki, the driver just can't catch a break this season, even though he is himself struggling to put things together as well.

Mercedes

George Russell

Rating: 7.5

George Russell would tell you this was not one of his better weekends, and he would be right. In terms of results, however, it wasn't that bad. The driver came home with a decent haul of points, but it's safe to say that he was a step behind Kimi in the F1 Brazilian GP.

Kimi Antonelli

Rating: 10

This was the weekend when Kimi Antonelli officially arrived in F1. Holding off Max Verstappen on softer, fresher rubber and securing a career-best result is a perfect reminder to many who wrote him off.

Aston Martin

Fernando Alonso

Rating: 8

Alonso was quite brilliant in the sprint when he held off Lewis Hamilton to score a point. He couldn't do much in the race on Sunday, however, as the Aston Martin didn't have the pace to contend with the other midfield teams. The Spaniard's still got it for sure; he needs the team to make that next step.

Lance Stroll

Rating: 6

Stroll was once again a step behind his illustrious teammate in the F1 Brazilian GP. He's still waiting to secure his first win over Alonso in a qualifying session.

Alpine

Pierre Gasly

Rating: 8.5

A brilliant reminder from Pierre Gasly, who once again showed that once he's in form, he just makes a step that his teammates are unable to. He got points out of an Alpine in the F1 Brazilian GP, something not many would have expected.

Franco Colapinto

Rating: 5

A humbling weekend for Colapinto, the driver was a tad slower than his teammate, and the gulf was quite visible. Fortunately for him, he's got a second year under his belt with Alpine in 2026.

Haas

Esteban Ocon

Rating: 6

Ocon seems lost at Haas at the moment. The driver is struggling in qualifying for some reason and has found it very hard to nail everything. This gets accentuated with his teammate Ollie Bearman nailing everything and making the French driver look average.

Ollie Bearman

Rating: 8

Ollie Bearman is doing what Charles Leclerc did at Sauber in 2018, and he's making everyone stand up and take notice. The young Brit has been sensational in the last few races, and the F1 Brazilian GP was him knocking on the doors at Ferrari once again.

Racing Bulls

Liam Lawson

Rating: 8

Liam Lawson impressed again with his combative drive, where he finished ahead of Hadjar. The Kiwi is potentially a tenth or so slower than the Frenchman, but racecraft truly helped him secure a good enough result.

Isack Hadjar

Rating: 7.5

A strong run in the F1 Brazilian GP for Isack Hadjar. The French driver would have potentially wanted a better run against Ollie Bearman, but losing a chunk of time in traffic cost him.

Williams

Alex Albon

Rating: 7

Albon almost got the job done for Williams, and maybe he should not have pitted anyway in the end. But it was still a decent F1 Brazilian GP race weekend for Albon after a run of iffy races.

Carlos Sainz

Rating: 6.5

The Spaniard would be slightly upset for not securing any points. The F1 Brazilian GP was arguably not the best race for Williams anyway, and Sainz would finish marginally outside of points.

Sauber

Nico Hulkenberg

Rating: 7.5

Hulkenberg was the better Sauber driver at the F1 Brazilian GP, and he ended up bringing home the points that made the difference. The German's error in the sprint potentially cost him a chance at points, but his race management on Sunday was excellent, and that helped him score a few points for the team.

Gabriel Bortoleto

Rating: 4

One couldn't help but feel sorry for Bortoleto, who had a weekend from hell in the F1 Brazilian GP. First, the crash in the sprint was unfortunate, but then it was followed by the crash in the race. The Brazilian would have hoped for a better showing in front of the home crowd.
