The Syracuse Orange have already landed Gavin Doty in the transfer portal as a big-time addition.
Could Kayden Mingo be next?
There are at least two obvious reasons to believe the freshman point guard from Penn State could end up at SU after entering the portal.
The first is that Penn State assistant Jamal Brunt was announced as a new assistant coach under Gerry McNamara at Syracuse.
The second is that Mingo was the point guard at Long Island Lutheran, a classmate of Kiyan Anthony -- and Carmelo's kid appears to be staying with the Orange even after the coaching change from Adrian Autry to G-Mac.
In his first season at Penn State, Mingo averaged 13.7 points, 4.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game.

Mingo was a 4-star recruit in the Class of 2025, ranked No. 34 nationally by 247Sports.
He was a big get for Penn State to begin with, and in the end, he's decided he likely wants to find a stronger program to be a part of.
Syracuse isn't at its peak, but if Mingo wants some familiar faces around him, it's tough to have more than the Orange have for Mingo.
