'$2.5M per race' Lewis Hamilton doesn't deliver anything to Ferrari claims pundit

Former F1 driver turned pundit Robert Doornbos has slammed Lewis Hamilton for his performances in the 2025 season. After the first 21 races, Hamilton has yet to amass a win or a podium finish for Ferrari.

Ferrari F1 as a whole had a terrible outing during last week's Brazilian Grand Prix race weekend. Both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton came away with a DNF when the team needs to score as many points as possible to secure second place in the Constructors' Championship.

While Charles Leclerc has delivered consistent performances throughout 2025, Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, has struggled. The Brit has so far managed only 148 points, compared to Leclerc's 214.

Following the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix, Ferrari Chief John Elkann came up with an extremely strong stance in regard to the team's performance, and added:

"In Formula 1, we have mechanics who are always first in performing pit stops. The engineers work to improve the car. The rest is not up to par. We have drivers who need to focus on driving, talk less, and we have important races ahead of us, and it is not impossible to finish second.” (Via: PlanetF1).

Several pundits have had their say on Elkann's comments, and Robert Doorbos has also had his say. The latter has sided with Elkann's comments and even slammed Hamilton by saying:

"John Elkann, the Ferrari boss, has also said that the drivers should talk less and accelerate. Second place among the Constructors is still achievable. Leclerc and Hamilton both shared a message on Instagram after Elkann’s complaint, clearly wanting to create unity at the team." (Via: De Stamtafel) "It indicates that there are serious irritations at Ferrari. They are happy to transfer 2.5 million to Hamilton every weekend, but he doesn’t deliver anything for it."

Only three Grand Prix events are remaining on the 2025 race calendar.

"We will come back fighting": Lewis Hamilton on remainder of 2025

While Robert Doornbos has not left any stone unturned in criticizing Lewis Hamilton for his timid performances, the latter is fully focused on delivering the maximum possible in the remaining three races of the 2025 F1 season.

In line with this, the seven-time world champion has recently added the following via RN365:

"We will come back fighting in the next races. There are still points on the table, and so that will be our mindset. I don't ever expect anything, [so for Las Vegas], we are just going to turn up and give absolutely everything."

In the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton secured a second-place finish while driving for the Mercedes Formula 1 team. His then teammate George Russell secured the victory, and then Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz secured third place.
