Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) purchased Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis for a big sum of ₹8.6 crore at the IPL 2026 auction. Notably, Inglis will not be available for the majority of the IPL 2026 season.
Inglis had made it known before the auction that he would be available to play only four matches due to personal reasons. This was also the reason why he was Punjab Kings (PBKS) released him after IPL 2025.
Despite his limited availability, LSG went all-out to acquire Josh Inglis. It was interesting as he sparked a bidding war between LSG and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). However, fans were stunned at this move.

PBKS reached the IPL 2025 final. They lost to the eventual winners, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Nonetheless, they had an exceptional season and were consistent all the way. They even finished at the top of the table after the league stage.
Among their key players was Inglis, who carried out a vital role in them making the final. He scored 278 runs from 11 matches. The runs may not seem many, but they were crucial as he made an impact. He scored at an average of 30.88 and a strike rate of 162.57.
Inglis carries a lot of experience, having played 162 T20s in his career so far. He has scored 3853 runs in 152 innings at an average of 29.86 and a strike rate of 149.98 with four hundreds and 20 half-centuries.
Although for just four games, LSG will hope that Inglis can create a similar impact and deliver to his maximum in his limited period in the upcoming season.
