16 Horror Movies Based on Real Urban Myths

IMDb

Movie characters often talk about urban myths that, within their stories, end up being real. More often than not, every aspect of the film is fictional, including the triggering story that started the in-universe legend. Some movies like to take more than inspiration from real life, though, which is why sometimes real urban myths make it to the big screen.

What we’ve gathered here are the movies that depict urban myths born in real life. The events within them are, of course, completely fictional, but it adds to their eeriness the fact that they come from real stories.
